A downloadable game for Windows

Have you ever dream to sit in your isolated room and contemplate your broken mind? Yeah... This game won't help you cure it.

This is a simulation of how bad a person reacts to isolation. It may be scary, it contains horror elements, but the point is to experience a mind going wild in the isolated space.
This is only a prototype, not a full vertical slice of a game. The whole thing should take you no more than 30 minutes, you may experience weird noises, anxiety and mirages.

And one thing more, the experience can be different for each individual. Do not panic.
If you feel dizzy or you experience rising heartbeat, please turn off this game by simple tapping Escape button.

Hi Zeal!

If you forgot, you reached out last week on my Youtube to have me try your new version!

Just played the game again, and I don't know if I got all the external instances in a row, but I feel like a lot of the new exploration stuff is a bit of a step backwards from what made this game so good in the first place. I'll still edit and drop it, but you should go back to leaving little spookers inside of the room and leave the outside as a complete mystery to the player. The refusal to explain the "why" of it was a huge selling point for the first version I played, and the helplessness of being trapped in the room made the scares hit REALLY hard!

Whatever you choose to do, I hope it does well 😁

Thanks!

I made all those outdoor events easy to reach, because otherwise nobody would see them in the early stage of the game. I would love to go back to 'trapped in a room' idea, but in the end I feel like there should be more to explore.

My idea for the next step is to monitor player's behaviour in the isolation room and push the events on certain occasions, where leaving the room is more like an end stage event for one run or less probable thing to happen.

I also wanted to have softer events to make contrast to the scarier stuff.

I really appreciate your feedback and I'm working on this project (after a long break) again, this time with more of a plan in my mind what I want it to be rather than messing around in Unity engine.

Cheers!

I'm looking forward to seeing that!

If you want a few ideas, I think it'd be really cool to see those timed instances spaced out a little bit, and add in a few little scares that only come in once the player looks at a certain thing for a while. Maybe like if you look under the bed or at the light for long enough, a spooky face or creature fades in and then scuttles off. If you're using Unity for your engine, so you can pretty easily make these happen with a simple iGaze script, which're honestly pretty easy to make once you've made a few!

I'd also love to see a few different story lines in the form of secret notes or audio tapes that aren't any longer than a single sentence, scattered out through the instances to try guide some kind of narrative. Leave all of them completely ambiguous, and don't give the player any more than a few per playthrough, just to drive home that feeling of trapped hopelessness that you've got going on. That'd be as easy as scripting the interactable asset to spawn, then use an RND function to roll a number and call on an int assigned script for which story the player gets for that playthrough.

I'm just spitballing ideas. All in all, it is your game and I'm sure whatever you end up with will be something that you can really be proud of. Just keep at it and don't doubt yourself, you've got a great foundation already 😄

Thanks for kind words and awesome ideas!

I've placed here a new version of the Isolation Simulator. I hope you have some spare time to sit in a dark room.

I'm back on this project. Life can be crazy, but I do not forget about it.

I wonder what's the name of the electronic music that it was playing in the background.

A simple spook, nice

I was wondering if anything else happens, but overall it's a lot of fun!

Thanks! I'm working on it :-)

Hey, me and a friend named GWAG made a video about this game. Sorry if we seem a little harsh, but i still think the game needs a bit more work before it can get anything above a '1'.

Still, good luck!

(1 edit)

I guess you are right, I didn't think anybody would play it in the first place. I uploaded simple prototype with a simple loop of events just happening. It was a shock to me that you guys play it on youtube, but hey, the good thing is that I've convinced my wife to spare some more time on this project!

Overall, it's well deserved 1/5 (there wasn't even a decent controller of the camera).

Thanks for your time, the video was actually entertaining and hey, I'm going back to work to make the game better!

Really weird, short, and funny game. Played it through for my Youtube channel Rick the Islander and the jumpscares were a bit meh but it's worth playing through just to hear the weird sounds and things happening all around you! Here's the link to my video!

Thanks! Sorry for the low quality, I'm doing my best to make it better everyday now (expect for when my wife tells me not to). I hope you and other youtubers will play it again when it's finished!

And the blue screen is already deleted.

Thank you for responding! Don't take it negatively! It was constructive criticism based on my playthrough of the game. I'm not a game developer so I obviously don't know all the coding required for something like this or the quirks of the engine itself but it's still an interesting experience nonetheless! It just feels a little too funny to feel scary but if you can take advantage of suspense and make it a bit more serious, you could have a gem that can be enjoyed by many! Take care and I look forward to seeing how this game progresses. If you improve on it later on and want another playthrough of it just let me know and I will gladly play it again and make a video on it!

A good game, A few parts made me chuckle.

Thanks for your time! And for the feedback!

This is definitely a game to keep an eye on, I have high hopes for a full version!

Thanks! I'm doing my best, it started as a free time project, but with so many of you... well, it's still my free time project, but oh boy, the pressure!

(+1)

No pressure! If we're lucky enough to see a full release, we all want it to be a product of passion.

Love your game and we'll all follow ;)

Comment if you are here just because you watched markiplier 3 scary games on YT :D

Don't listne to this guy

I hope devs will finish the full game, it's like the definition of insanity!

Devs (in fact a dev) will try to do his best :-)

(1 edit)

I was short for me, and only got a few flinches because of jumpscare elements.

I also want to give you a tip - the footsteps are too loud and they are too fast-paced compared to your ingame speed.

It definetly got potential, but I had nothing to do once a certain scene played out (dont wanna spoil it on here), and nothing new happened afterwards. I played for about... not even five minutes.

The idea is really good. Try starting the player with something small, then build up from there. You definetly have a lot of space to scare.

I will definetly play again in the future to see what you made :)

(+1)

Sure thing! Thanks for your tips, I mashed a few events in a loop for a showcase, I didn't think it would be something interesting for ppl out there. I'm going to build it again from scratch in my free time for better quality and add some sort of timeline and ending. I don't want it to be simple horror on train tracks, but as you stated the tension should build up slowly. I guess I need to create an algorithm which will build up the tension choosing preprepared events but in its own way in real-time to avoid this static train tracks effect.

Thanks for your time! It's awesome so many people enjoy it, and some of you even paid me a few bucks, which is really great in this time of covid19.

I also could probably post here a quick updates with minor tweeks, but as stated I'm going to take my time and develop better quality and as one can expect, first generations of mentioned algorithm won't be impressive.

Fun idea. That was a cool experience. I originally recorded a commentary video with it but decided to upload it without commentary because that seemed like it went against the whole idea of the game. Thanks for the fun!

I have seen alot of these type of games lately but this one in particular caught my eye. Loved the ideas behind this and the creepy voice in the dark was pretty scary, hope we see more on this one:

Thanks! I hope I will have time to work more on this project and prepare something more than a bare prototype.

Good to hear, Thanks again for this game a really enjoyable experience.
